This photo of (from left to right) Peggy Northrop, Editor in Chief, MORE magazine; Me; Chris Cavanagh; and Dr. Pam Peeke. The occasion is a book signing of Dr. Peeke's latest book which you've got the inside scoop on. Chris and I were getting in the groove for the 4th annual Over 40 Women's Only Marathon and Half Marathon. Chris told me back in November as we watched the NYC marathon runners come over the 59th street bridge that she really wanted to do at least a half marathon for her birthday coming up in March. Voila the MORE marathon just happened to be a couple of days after her birthday. We power walked 13.2 miles in just over 3 hours. Not bad for two girls who just couldn't seem to get our training schedule on track. It was exciting and what a feeling of success! We also had the feeling we'd lost our minds as we laced up the morning of. Guess what? The blisters and oh-so-sore-like-a-step-class-when-you-haven't-been-to-the-gym-in-awhile sore everything that night and into the next day only made us feel more like the fabulous smart women we are. Guess how we got to the finish line? We began by signing up and paying our registration fees. The rest as they say.... |
